Telemedicine Studio

Telemedicine uses technology that allows clients to visit with health care providers live over video.

LAMP is a member of the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN). They are an independent, Non-for profit organization, funded by the government of Ontario. OTN is one of the largest telemedicine networks in the world. The technology also provides opportunities for professional development for physicians, allied health care providers, and students.

LAMP's studio is in the Occupational Health Centre and provides easy access for all to telemedicine events. Occupational Health Consultations can be made to clients all over Ontario. As well as clinical visits, LAMP also participates in distance education, administrative meeting and rounds. LAMP has participated in over 88 telemedicine events including occupational health, mental health, diabetes, infection control and prevention.

There are many benefits of using this technology including:

  • Better patient and learner access.
  • Reduce distance and time barriers.
  • Reduce travel and costs.
  • Allow viewing of webcasts at viewer's convenience.
  • Provides community outreach.
  • Enable teaching and learning at a distance via videoconferecing and webcasting.
