Worried about having enough to pay the rent? Many people are on a reduced income and it’s hard to pay all the bills and put food on the table. We are offering two workshops on tenants’ rights and what to do to avoid eviction. We will also share information on where to go for help and support.
Affordable Housing is a project a group of dedicated Etobicoke Lakeshore Volunteers have been working on for the past two years. The Lakeshore Affordable Housing Advocacy and Action Group is full of change makers. They are advocating for deeply affordable housing to meet a wide range of community needs. COVID-19 has really had a serious financial impact on many people and it is getting more and more difficult to pay the bills. This has displaced people from their homes already and without serious policy changes, many more people are going to be homeless. Together with LAMP’s community partners, we are trying to prevent these evictions through education and supports. If you or anyone you know is vulnerable or living in a precarious housing situation, these workshops are for you. We are all here to help. We want to hear from people who are really struggling to find affordable housing or on the verge of homelessness or homeless or couch surfing. Or from people who just want to help. A new guide is being released by CERA to help prevent housing evictions, Everyone is welcome. For more information contact Jasmin Dooh at 416-252-6471 ext. 308
