The conference is going ahead this saturday and sunday despite the weather at Humber College Lakeshore Campus. LAMP CHC will be joining tenants and community members throughout the Lakeshore to collaborate on solutions to the affordable housing crisis!
The affordable housing crisis continues and individuals and families are being seriously impacted. LAMP and its partners LAHAAG (The Lakeshore affordable Housing Advocacy and Action Group). SEHA (South Etobicoke Housing Affordability), The South Etobicoke CBA (Community Benefits Agreements) and many more local organizations like South Etobicoke Community Legal Services, the Daily Bread Food Bank, and others are putting affordable housing front and centre as the issue that is creating poverty and poor health, an epidemic. Here are a few upcoming workshops to help people who are struggling. LAMP is organizing workshops and information sessions to help people secure affordable housing and know their rights. The Etobicoke Lakeshore all candidates meeting organized by the Daily Bread Food Bank and LAMP hosted almost 200 hundred people online and some keen in person residents as well. Renters in privately owned market buildings are feeling vulnerable to steep rent hikes these days. Already hundreds of rental apartments have been rennovated and the rent has gone up dramatically.
